Sandeep Ray was born in a small town near a plantation in Malaysia, to which his father, a physician, had moved to from
India. He has since lived in Calcutta, Boston and Jakarata. A historian by training, he has also had a career making non- fiction films, several of which have been nominated at international film festivals. A Flutter in the Colony is his first work of literary fiction.
