Subrata Dasgupta

Subrata Dasgupta, an author of 12 books, including, most recently, a narrative history, Awakening: The Story of the Bengal Renaissance (2010) published by Random House India, and an English childhood memoir, Salaam Stanley Matthews (2006), published by Granta in the UK. Both books have been widely and very well reviewed and received, Salaam in both Britain and India, Awakening in India (thus far). His biography of Jagadis Chandra Bose, Jagadis Chandra Bose and the Indian Response to Western Science was published by OUP India in 1999 and has been republished in paperback in 2010 by Permament Black. This work is considered widely as 'essential reading' for anyone working in the history of Indian science. In addition, a novel, Three Times a Minority was published in limited edition in 2003. His other books, mostly of scholarly/academic nature have been published by Cambridge University Press (UK & USA), Oxford University Press (USA), Permanent Black (India), and John Wiley (USA).
