Dipak Basu grew up in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) in India, the setting of A Flight of Green Parrots. Since his schooldays Dipak has been passionately involved in reading, writing and travel. He has been editor of several magazines and contributed numerous literary articles. Dipak's travels take him to remote regions of Africa, Latin America, Nepal, Tibet and China, and provide rich literary material. A Flight of Green Parrots is Dipak's first full-length work of fiction. Dipak and his wife live in Northern California and are avid trekkers in the Himalayas and Cascades. They have one daughter, who is a science teacher in New York
