Nawal Ali

Nawal Ali is a researcher, photographer and journalist based in Kashmir. Her research practice includes security amidst state violence in Kashmir, specifically in, but not limited to communities around the Line of Control. She is a contributing writer in History, Resistance and Life beyond Politics in Kashmir: A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Conflict being published by Lexington Books. Her chapter is titled “Restricted Time, Space and Mobility: The Everyday Oppression Through Militarised Roads.” She recently completed a multi-media Arts research project with India Foundation for the Art on post-colonial culture in Gurez, a region on the LoC, printed in the form of a book. Currently she is an AHRC funded PhD (Human Geography) scholar at Durham University.
