Jay Chandella
RUTH LAILA SCHMIDT and LARS MARTIN FOSSE are Jay Chandella, the co-authors of The Harappan Seal. Schmidt is emeritus professor of Urdu at the University of Oslo. She has lived and worked for almost two decades in India, Pakistan and Nepal, and has visited Afghanistan twice. She was awarded two Fulbright grants to India and spent four years in Pakistan as Field Director, Berkeley Urdu Program. The Harappan Seal is her first work of fiction since leaving university (where she won second prize in the University of California Short Story Contest). Fosse has a Ph.D. in Sanskrit. He works as an independent translator in Norway, specializing in military subjects. He also translates from Sanskrit. He has lectured on the Soviet War in Afghanistan and is published on the subject in the Norwegian Military Journal (2008). His translation of the Bhagavad Gita was published by Yogyavidya in 2007 and he is currently working on a translation of the Kama Sutra for them. His translations of military works are published by Spektrum Forlag in Oslo. II.
