The Malayali People are a Dravidian ethnic group from the state of Kerala in India, and not to be confused with the Tamils of Tamil Nadu. I have been thinking for some time of the Keralites and how they have made their home all over the world excelling in various fields. Everybody is privy to the fact of the Kerala Gulf Diaspora, these are the lucky ones that travelled out to the Middle Eastern countries to eke out a living and succeeded in doing so. It seems to me that all of these big companies have that same thread in their story.
Kerala, happily known as God’s own Country has more to offer than just its tourism. Extreme wealth and entrepreneurship have put the Keralites on the global map. Something that started in the 70’s has clearly multiplied a million fold, making them a community to reckon with. The core businesses range from construction, infrastructure, and education, to healthcare, hospitality, jewelry, retail, and software.
I believe a book on this community would show a different side to doing business than those adopted by the other Indian business communities in India and globally.
