William H. Avery
William H. Avery is writer and foreign policy analyst with a particular expertise in India and South Asia. A former diplomat with the US Department of State, he was posted to India in 1998 when India stunned the world with its nuclear test, and has continued to be associated with India inside and outside of government ever since. Mr. Avery has published extensively on international relations and US foreign policy. His work has appeared in journals and periodicals in the US, Asia and Europe. He writes a regular column for The Financial Express, one of India’s leading financial dailies. The Financial Times of Sri Lanka calls Mr. Avery’s work a "must-read" for “all leaders in governance, politics, business, academics and civil society.” Mr. Avery has also appeared as a foreign affairs commentator on several BBC news programs, including The World Today, Asia Today and The World. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He graduated from Princeton University, summa cum laude, with a degree in History and held a Fulbright Scholarship to Austria.
