It has been more than fifteen years since Seema Shankar’s family moved from Hong Kong’s New Territories to New Delhi, India. And in these years, Seema has almost entirely forgotten her life in Harmony Bay. But on a holiday to Manchester visiting her sister Maya, Seema is forced to remember a terrifying past when her childhood best friend Danni calls to inform her that Johan – her first love – is battling death in a hospital in Kent. It is a terrifying déjà vu for Seema as long repressed memories come flooding back, of a horrific, stormy night that claimed hundreds of lives. To make sense of the madness and to be with her friends by Johan’s hospital bed, Seema travels to London and the floodgates open: it is as if time has stood still. She has no option now but to let her husband Dhruv in on the story she never told him. As she narrates it to him, she and her friends begin to relive the nightmare that had once held all of them captive.
